TAJIKISTAN MAP

The area that comprises modern-day Tajikistan has been inhabited for at least 2500 years, possibly substantially longer, by successive Empires. Some little known outside of history departments (the Achaemnids, Sogdia, the Bactrian Empire, the Kushan Empire, Hephthalites), and some more widely recognised (Alexander the Great’s armies conquered the area, as did the Arabs in the 7th Century).
