Indonesia - Java Sumatra

  Indonesia is a vast archipelago stretching for over 5,000 kilometres encompassing more than 17,000 islands. Indonesia is a tropical paradise with landscapes differing from island to island, but all equally as enticing. This is a great place to visit as it offers natural beauty, cultural and artistic wealth and warm hospitality. Here are a selection of ideas for visiting Western indonesia

JAVA

Java is not just home to the famous Borobudur Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and an architectural wonder, but also to highland retreats, tea plantations, volcanoes and scenic mountain passes. Jakarta, the capital, is located in Western Java where you can take flights to most remote locations throughout the Indonesian Archipelago. Bandung in the highlands, is a shopping mecca. Formerly known as Parijs Van Java, it is a leading fashion city in Indonesia. 

 SUMATRA

Sumatra is worth exploring from top to bottom. The Samon dance from Aceh displays the fastest hand movement in dances in the entire world. Lake Toba in North Sumatra is the largest lake in South East Asia and the second largest lake in the world after Lake Victoria in Africa. Kingga village in Tanah Karo, North Sumatra is a hundred years old and succeeds in maintaining its original traditions.The major city of Medan is easily accessible from Singapore as is the nearby island of Nias, world famous for its surfing breaks.
